Rocco Federico Castellani, double bass player, was born in Milan on 22/12/1995. In 2016 he graduated with full marks from the music and arts high school in Forlì. In the same year he was accepted at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. While still at high school he played in the Bruno Maderna Orchestra in Cesena and performed as soloist during the Venice Biennale as well as in other events, and also worked with the Socìeta Raffaello Sanzio theatre company. He has been a member of the Ludus Gravis double bass ensemble since 2017 with which he has played as soloist in the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra and in the Magna Grecia orchestra conducted by maestro Tonino Battista for the “Assedio - Frammenti di Reportage” project. He has taken part in numerous international festivals playing, among others, in Rome in the Parco della Musica Auditorium, at the Suså Festival in Denmark, in Macerata (at the Rassegna di Nuova Musica), in Madrid (at the Italian Cultural Institute). With the Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori Italiani, he has played in several productions in some of the most important theatres in Italy. He has played as soloist and in chamber ensembles in the festivals “Un Organo per Roma” and “Santa Cecilia a Via Giulia” and has played as soloist with Markus Stockhausen in the “Percorsi Jazz” festival.
